‘Totally Touchable’ art exhibition at The Blake Gallery

‘Totally Touchable’ art exhibition at The Blake Gallery

‘Totally Touchable’ is an exhibition of art created by blind and partially sighted residents of Gravesham with ‘very’ loose guiding by me, decease Wendy Daws. We’ve been discovering our own ways of art making.

The exhibition opens on 3rd November at the Blake Gallery and is curated by Matt Bray. As a group we will be in the gallery offering guided tours of the exhibition. Visitors will be invited to wear ‘simulated spectacles’ to view and handle the art through the eyes of those who created it. We aim to make the exhibition as accessible as possible and raise awareness of living with sight impairments. Braille and printed guide books will also be available along with a short film and photo reel documenting the making of ‘Totally Touchable’. We want to discuss ways in which art is viewed and share our own discoveries.  The ‘simspecs’ have been kindly donated by the Guide Dogs.

The exhibition is open 3rd – 22nd November 9am – 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am – 2pm on Sunday. There will be a private view on Wednesday 4th November 5:30pm – 7:30pm. To request an invite please contact Lyndsey Thompson directly lyndsey.thompson@gravesham.gov.uk or tel: 01474 337442
